We have a range of tickets available, from pay on the day single tickets to and from school, to full school year season tickets. Below we have set out some common scenarios to help you decide what best suits your needs.
Season Tickets
If your child travels on our bus to and from school most days of the term or year, a season ticket will provide the best value for you. On the first occasion that you purchase a season ticket for a particular route, you will also need to purchase a smartcard from this site Any future purchases for this student on this route will be loaded onto the smartcard, so please ensure your student doesn’t throw it away at the end of term.
We do not sell one way season tickets; season tickets cover both the morning and afternoon journeys.
Smartcard
All of our season tickets are loaded onto smartcards, which are purchased through our site. You only need to purchase a smartcard on the first occasion that you purchase a season ticket for a student on a particular route. If smartcards become lost or damaged (physically or stops communicating), a replacement must be purchased. These tickets cannot be loaded with cash to pay for single or weekly tickets.
Scholar Weekly Tickets
These tickets are only available from the driver on the bus, and are suitable for students travelling both ways each day. They may also be a better value option for those who don’t have a Hertfordshire SaverCard or Sullivan Scholar Discount card.using the bus for eight journeys or more in one week.
Single Tickets
These are suited to those taking the bus in only one direction a day, or occasional travellers. Please note that we do not offer return tickets to schools.
To obtain the cheapest possible single fare, your student must have either a valid Hertfordshire SaverCard or on routes 355, 356 and 833 a valid Sullivan Scholar Discount Card (only available to those resident outside Hertfordshire). If your student travels on the bus without having a valid SaverCard or Sullivan Scholar Discount Card presnt on the bus, they will be charged a higher fare.
Hertfordshire SaverCard
If your student is resident in Hertfordshire, and will be paying for single tickets on the bus, please apply for a Hertfordshire SaverCard on the HCC website
https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/Schools-and-education/Travel-to-school/Savercard/savercard.aspx Please allow at least 2 weeks between ordering and delivery.
Please be aware that there is an annual renewal fee for these, which must be paid in order to keep paying the discounted fares.
