Changes for 2024/25

What’s important or new this year?

Smartcard tickets

We are now using smartcards for all of our term and annual tickets. If your child does not already have one of our smartcards, please add a smartcard (one off £10 charge) to your basket as well as purchasing a Spring term ticket. Future renewals will be automatically added to cards without the need to send out new physical tickets. We will also be able to disable tickets reported as lost in order that they cannot be used by anyone else..

Spring Term tickets

Spring Term tickets will go on sale on Saturday 14 December 2024 at 10:00.

Sibling Discount

Sibling discount gives a discount of 10% on second and subsequent tickets for siblings residing at the same address. This discount will be applied to the lower priced ticket(s) if applicable. To apply for this discount, please add all tickets to your basket and click on the link that appears above the notice about our terms and conditions. We will then review your request and apply the discount where appropriate and notify you when this has been done in order that you can make payment.
Tickets are held securely in your basket for 48 hours to enable the discount to be applied. If you finalise the transaction by paying before we have applied the discount, we are unable to offer a refund of the difference nor a credit against future purchases.

Changes to Queens' and St. Michael's routes

The morning journeys on routes 306A, 832 and 833 have been retimed to align with the new starting time at St. Michael's.
Route 832 will now start from Watford High Street in the mornings.

Route 397 from Borehamwood to Queens' replaces route 398 to Queens'.

Savercards

Hertfordshire’s SaverCard scheme entitles users aged 11 to 18 years to travel at Child rate when purchasing single trip tickets. This is shown on the relevant faretable under the SaverCard column. The SaverCard must be valid and tapped in when boarding the bus in order to obtain reduced rate travel. Under the terms of the County Council's scheme, higher fares must be charged to anyone not in possession of a valid HCC SaverCard on the bus at the time of travel.
SaverCards are valid on all of Hertfordshire’s Commercial bus services operated by Arriva, Uno, Red Rose, Centre Bus and many others. TfL Zip cards cannot be accepted as an alternative to a SaverCard. However, if the student lives outside Hertfordshire, please purchase a Sullivan's Fare Saver Card which will allow purchases of discounted single fares on our services to schools only.

Further details can be found at: https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/Schools-and-education/Travel-to-school/Savercard/savercard.aspx

Please allow at least 2 weeks between ordering and delivery.

Fares

We have tried to minimise the increases in season ticket prices; the increases that we have reluctantly passed on to you are lower than the increases that we are paying for fuel and parts. In addition, staff wages have also increased in the face of a national shortage of bus drivers. Spring Term passes are based on the SaverCard single prices that come into effect in January 2025.

Refunds:

Refunds for students leaving or moving schools are calculated as follows:

Annual tickets - the cost of complete term tickets for those terms completed plus weekly tickets from the start of the term until the date the ticket is surrendered during which the student leaves is deducted, with the remaining balance refunded less a £10 admin charge. The £10 cost of the smartcard is non-refundable. Term posses - the cost of weekly tickets up to the date of surrender will be deducted and the balance refunded less a £10 admin charge. The £10 cost of the smartcard is non-refundable.

We cannot provide refunds on weekly tickets or credits on season tickets for students who are self-isolating, ill or otherwise unable to attend a school that is open.
